So, if you are in a life or death situation, get out your wallet and go to Mercy. Otherwise seek care elsewhere or at a minimum put it on your calendar 'Call Mercy for my "automatic" refund.'
My insurance company processed the claim with in 2 weeks. 7 weeks passed and no refund from Mercy.
However, next time I will go anywhere but Mercy because I don't like their business practices.
Visited the urgent care clinic on a Saturday during our 2016 summer vacation. My daughter had pink eye. Pretty straight forward diagnosis and treatment. Doctor got it right.

I called to see where my $95 over payment check was. The billing specialist told me Mercy keeps "overage" as a credit on your account in case you have charges for future visits and it can be used then. I was a tourist to Branson, so this was highly unlikely. Add to it the upfront fee collection scam and it's pretty much an impossibility I'd do more business with Mercy.
In order for my daughter to see the doctor, I had to pay the full $179 urgent care office visit fee. Didn't matter that I had insurance that would reduce the office visit fee and pay a portion, too. The Mercy admittance desk said you have to pay full price now but you'll be refunded the difference. OK, didn't make me happy, but you do what you gotta do when your kid needs a doctor.
So I asked to talk to a manager as I think credit on my Mercy account not my bank account practice is dastardly. People forget and assume Mercy will do the right thing and send the refund. Not keep it on account in case....
When the manager called me back, she said the refunds usually generate automatically, but sometimes the "system" doesn't recognize it so you have to ask for the money. I call BS because someone doesn't know the real story here - account credit or "system" mistake?
